- Reviewed in the United States on July 8, 2020I initially had some issues regarding paint chipping and floor board support. I reached out to customer service and they are superb. They immediately sent out a replacement and were very attentive and kind.
I’m a very picky person especially when it comes to my furry best friend Marley. After researching, I placed a bet on this house. It is the MOST attractive dog house I have come across with easy assemblage as well. The photos show a more natural wood brown but it is a reddish orange cedar in actuality- still very stunning and the finish makes it look exactly like a mini cabin in the woods. You’ll surely get lots of compliments and jealous dog parents 😂
Setup and assembly was a breeze. Just make sure everything lines up. A wrench 🔧 really helps to tighten some of the bolts and washers. I also used a drill to speed up the process but a regular screwdriver will suffice. Because I took my time and did not rush to ensure everything was perfect, it took a little over a half hour for assembly. Definitely would be faster if i wasn’t a perfectionist lol.
All in all, I wish the dark paint detailing on the exterior didn’t chip (fixable with wood stain to hide imperfections). My dog is also around 40 pounds and the floor boards dipped slightly- so I would reinforce that with extra bars running across the bottom if your dog is up to 79 pounds as advertised. Though the slide in and click down method is time effective for the floor boards, the overall sturdiness of the floor of the house leaves some to be desired. Of course, these issues can be rectified if you have some tools at hand... but for nearly $200 after taxes, I had hoped I wouldn’t have to make any adjustments/fixes.
Where it shines: Truly weatherproof cedar. I was very worried about the weather proofing aspect but after a couple rainstorms I sleep well at night knowing it’s out in the backyard doing just fine. Color holds up great.
The sturdiness (aside from the floor) and construction is sufficient. At the same time though, the largest house (which is the one I have) is still quite easy to lift and move with two people. It’s a bit awkward if you try to move it on your own but it works too. At the same time though, you don’t have to worry about it flying away or even swaying in the wind at all.
I added personalizations on the exterior and custom lighting (cheap, remote controlled or push down, color changing, 3M adhesive stick on puck lights also from amazon) on the interior for my puppy to be comfortable and safe. Even my neighbors commented on how nice it is. I’d say go for it.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 22, 2012I am a little disappointed with it. It arrived fast and there was no visible damage to the box but one of the plastic adjustable feet was cracked and broken. Also, the trim around the door opening was also cracked. It went together easily enough but after it was all put together, it is not very rigid or sturdy. The screws for the roof are too short. If you purchase this dog house, buy 8 dry screws that are inch and a half long. I would also recommend using wood glue as you assemble. I did for the roof and wish I would have for the sides.
Bottom line, it smells nice and should keep the weather off my 70 lb lab but if he does anything but sleep in it, I imagine it will break up fairly easily. It does not seem like it will hold up well but time will tell. I have a flat roof dog house by Precision and it is much more sturdy than this.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 16, 2018After a LOT of research, I decided to purchase this dog house for my 4-month-old Goldendoodle puppy, Harlee. I purchased the large as I know she'll grow into it.
The shipment came quickly, as usual. There was no strong odor like some reviewers commented on. In fact - no odor at all. I put the dog house together by myself. It was a breeze - except when it came to the roof. I could not figure out how it went on the base - because the holes never lined up correctly. So I checked out the reviews and sure enough, others commented on the same thing.
Here's a tip: Put the roof together (the 2 roof pieces and the middle piece) BEFORE you place it on the base! And don't pay any attention to the pre-drilled holes on the roof! Because I had no drill and I did not want to split the wood making new ones, I decided to use adhesive to secure the roof to the base. The roof is quite heavy so I don't expect it to move. I also got filler to fill up those pre-drilled holes so no rain would seep thru the roof.
Underneath each of the little feet can be unscrewed to make higher or lower in case the area is not level - which is a nice added bonus. Despite a few nicks, dings and scratches here and there, the house is adorable.

- Reviewed in the United States on February 16, 2014I have a 13 year old Siberian Husky mix who was in need of a new house since I gave my igloo dog house to my brother for his boxer since he had no shelter. My Siberian is used to being outdoors most of the time and after looking for something that wouldn't look ugly in our nice backyard I came across several that had good and bad reviews. This dog house had great reviews and it looked so cute. Putting this together was very easy. My only suggestion for someone that buys this the directions are not as clear as they could be. There are diagrams showing you what to do but no descriptive words. What I did was lay out everything and took a good look at them and then started with the first step. Once you line up the sides of the dog houses (the predrilled holes will match the front and back) it is actually very easy. My dog actually got in it after I put the floor in and she seemed to love it and the roof was not even on yet!! lol. It looks awesome and she slept in it all last night. Great buy, can't go wrong.
One other thing. The flooring seemed to be not as strong a I would have liked when she steps in it does move some but so far it doesn't seem to be an issue like it will break. I can get my Dad to reinforce it somehow so if you have a dog that really is 90 lbs just be aware that the floor may need to be made stronger for a heavier dog.
