I like the pillow but I went to grab it out ...

I like the pillow but I went to grab it out ...
I like the pillow its a good idea but a fire hazard big time. I went to grab it out of the kennel after the second day of using it and it smelt burnt thank god it didn't catch on fire but the part that does the heart beat is all black so glad my animals are safe and the house wasn't burned down, I recommend only turning it on when you can supervised. Trying to get ahold of the company only had the pillow for two to three days. I will be sending it back I hope they can work on making a safer product.

I bought this product and the 'Smart Pet Love Snuggle Pet' (which is a little more expensive) to help with crate training my 6 week old german shepard puppy. The snuggle pet looked nicer and the heartbeat sounded more real to me so I gave that one to her first. I had planned to return the petzu (this product) since the heartbeat sounded SO fake and it wasn't as nice looking. Also the petzu heartbeat is on a timer that lasts a few hours which I thought was a bad thing.

The snugglepet seemed to comfort her a little but after a while it didn't seem to make a difference. Then one day.....it got peed on. So that night, I went ahead and opened the Petzu pillow since I hadn't washed the snugglepet yet. And good lord she loves that thing. She's 5 months now and won't go to sleep without it. I ended up tossing the snugglepet. Also the snugglepet heartbeat would go on and on and I'd forget--then the next day I remembered--and so on--and lots of wasted battery life. You have to take the heart out to turn it off/o also. With the Petzu, it shuts off after my girl is already asleep. And the button is really big and easy to press through the pillow. In fact my pup turns it on herself!!

Now, every dog is different. I'm sure there are many dogs out there that would be more comforted by the snugglepet which is nicer looking and has a more realistic heartbeat (to the human ear at least). My dog just happened to take more to the pillow. That's my experience with this product, so hopefully it will help with your shopping decisions.

We got a 12 week old Lhasa Apso and he cried all night the first night in his crate in our bedroom. He was crate trained but the separation was too much. When I received the pet pillow that night he cried only for a few minutes and then slept for 4 hours. I took him out, turned it on again and out till morning. Night 3 and 4 so far sleeping almost to the night and no whining when put in his crate. What a great product and idea. Highly recommend.

I knew it was too good to be true when I bought it, I bet most of these other comments are paid commentary. It is poorly made, puppy is more interested in the sound it makes and chewing it more than anything, the heating pad is really scary I would advise against microwawing it, there is a horrible stench and it looks poorly made. If you want to waste 25$ go for it

Was skeptical about this but I was desperate to try something for my 7 week old puppy, he would scream non stop all night and even in the day while in his play pen, warned up the pouch and turned the heartbeat on then showed it to him and then put it in his crate and he followed, he did chew it a little bit not anything worrisome, dogs have better hearing than us so he can hear the heartbeat just fine but it is very quiet, the hearing pouch could be better, it's a fleece sack full of nuts or something and kinda smells just a little when you warm it but puts out heat for a little bit and works pretty well, i would recommend this item to anyone who has a young puppy to comfort them, i would not recommend using this item with a large dog that might be prone to chewing on the item

I bought this in an attempt to find something to comfort my cats after our oldest passed away and left them without their favorite snuggle partner. It does not seem to do much for them. The shape and texture of the pillow does not seem inviting to them, and they were actually acting alarmed when I first turned on the heart sound. It seems rather loud to me, too. The instructions say the heartbeat sound was designed to be only slightly detected by the human ear, but I can hear it loud and clear even from the room next door. But then I'm the kind of person that is driven nuts by hearing a clock ticking at night, so maybe I'm just particularly sensitive.

I was disappointed to find out that the heart automatically turns off after just 11-12 minutes and then has to be reactivated again. That was not clear to me from reading the item description online. While that may save battery life, it does not seem practical for longer term use. I do like that the casing is machine washable and that it comes with a reusable heat pack (to be microwaved for 30-60 seconds, although I have not tried it, so cannot comment on how well it works).

Overall, this item seems to be specifically designed to help crated puppies go to sleep, but my cats couldn't care less and walked away from it when I tried to place it near them. I've had better luck with the Snuggle Kittie for them.

This is the best product for a new pup. We use this every night and day. My 8 week old pup loved it immediately. We had him lay on it in the car on our way home from picking him up for the very first time. He did not make a peep in the car and rested on it the entire 1-1/2 hour ride home. He cried only for 10 minutes his first night away from the pack and then the heartbeat soothed him to sleep. He sleeps with this pillow every night. As soon as he sees me pull it out of his crate and walk over to the microwave to warm the insert, he immediately follows behind and gets happy, wags his tail and stands by the microwave with me. Immediately after putting it in his crate and starting the heartbeat, he gets very happy, walks right in, lays on it and puts his head down. This is a GREAT product for a new pup being taken away from his Mom and litter mates. Highly recommend it. It is a little pricey but worth every penny.
