Bought this for my pitbull, I live in north central indiana and our winters aren’t horrible but many nights in the low teens and so far it’s kept my dog super comfortable, maybe even too warm at times! The video is nice cause I can check on her while I’m at work or when bad weather rolls in without having to physically be there. I installed the unit on an igloo doghouse and had to buy the special bracket designed for that style of round dog house but I wanted to make sure it was installed correctly. I also bought some reflective heat insulation on a roll and stapled it to the entire inside of the house before mounting. I’m sure that has helped keep the heat in as well. I give it 5 stars so far and if it works until spring breaks then to me it’s well worth the money and peace of mind. I highly suggest it, I always physically check the warmth when feeding so I know the thermostat is correct and soon as I put my arm in her house I’m jealous cause she’s way warmer than I am inside the house lol. I’d suggest it to anyone wanting to keep their pet warm and comfortable in the winter, just take the time to read the manual and install correctly and it should work just as good for you I’d think.

EASY THERMOSTAT ACCESS
The thermostat is easy to access and replaceable. Adjusts up to 100°F on high setting. Most people will typically set their thermostat just above medium. The heating temperature will depend upon the insulation and whether or not the dog has a door flap.
CHEW RESISTANT CORD

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
Install your Hound Heater in 5 easy steps!
- Drill a hole through the wall of the house.
- Feed the cord through the hole.
- Mount the Hound Heater on a vertical wall of your pet house. Do not mount on ceiling or floor. Place heater as high as possible with a minimum of 3 inches from the ceiling.
- Set the thermostat.
- Plug it in! If you are using an extension cord, it must be a 3 wire, 18 gauge (outdoor rated) grounded plug cord.
To disconnect heater, turn controls to off, and turn off power to heater circuit at main disconnect panel and remove plug from outlet.

My new hound heater is smaller and more effective than my first hound heater from 2022. I love it.
If there is no insulation in the doghouse the heater will warm 15-20 degrees above outside temperature. My dogs house is attached to her pen at the entrance side. She pulled all insulation out of the inside of the house after I added it. So I wrapped the outer 3 sides with reflectix and she cannot get to them. This heater is keeping her house an average of 40 degrees warmer than outside temp. This winter event has 9 degrees outside and her house is 56 degrees now.
