Small, Oily, Unsatisfactory.

Small, Oily, Unsatisfactory.
Surprisingly small bags, if you have a dog over 30lbs I'm not sure how well these bags would work for you since they can't hold much if you're wanting to tie them off. My parents have a little 20lb dog and I would not buy these bags for them since tying off the bags while it has contents is tricky and requires some nimble fingers. I've posted photos with a soda can for size comparison. I use these types of bags for scooping cat litter since I have 2 cats and I wanted to be a little more eco friendly with their waste. Typically I'll scoop the litter onto old newspaper, roll it like a burrito, stick it in a bag, and tie it off so that it doesn't smell up my kitchen trash can. I liked the idea that these are more eco friendly than traditional poop bags that I get from Target. I liked the Target bags because they're long enough to tie off even after they have the wrapped litter burrito in it. Unfortunately, between the size and an odd oily texture (they also smell very "chemically") I'll have to try another brand when it comes time to restock on bags.

I love these bags - I have been using them for about 3 years now. I had a small toy breed and now a beagle/boxer mix (45 lbs). I have used for both.

The hardest thing for me was to take natures more biodegradable substance, and wrap it up in plastic for all eternity. These bags solve that problem. These really do work – trust me – I fell in the lake with the dog leash and bag holder, they were already slime by the time I got out of the water!

The bags separate easily – they’ve fixed whatever issue they had with that. If the bags get damp or it’s super humid – they may be a bit stick, but still work just fine. They are a little smaller than most doggy-bags, but you don’t tie them (the air will trap when you flush). When we are on a long walk, I just twist the bag or make a little half-knot and undo when we get back. You can also take a bigger plastic bag with a handle for longer walks. In the end, it’s much better for the environment – so I can deal with a little ‘ick’.

The only time I've had an issue was when I tried to flush too much at once. I've learned if I have more than one 'pile' to flush, just dump the bag out and drop it on top. It goes down easily.

I have an older toilet and good water pressure - so be mindful when using on low-flush toilets. Again, I am guessing you can just dump out the bag. And again – these are so much better for the environment – it’s worth it!!

After we picked up the grandkids to drive them to stay in Florida last month, I thought we'd never make it. Between the five of them, we probably lost two hours in restroom stops. There was no way I was paying for a Motel 6 again (got a rash from the sheets), and we got in so late everyone was crying because they were hungry and saddlesore and the batteries on their pokeman tablet or whatever had run down and Hazel left the charger at home. I told myself "never again" will I be at the mercy of a five year old's behind. Well let me tell you I was ready for the drive back. I got a five dollar bucket from home depoet and a box of these bags. I set the cruise to 55 to keep it steady and the kids just climb in the back of the Dodge caravan which is plenty roomy and go in the bag and then seal it up in the bucket. No fuss no muss. It also teaches them to be responsible for themselves, which I somehow failed to impart on their parents (my kids, except Grayson came out okay). I also believes it has helped them with their coordination skills and teamwork, as one of them needs to hold the bag for the other. We just roll the windows down after to freshen up and get on down the road. When I got home I threw them in the compost and they seem to be breaking down great.

I have read some of the other reviews here and I think I've come to the conclusion that these bags are great for small dogs with small poops. My dogs are both about 50 pounds.

I had a couple of quibbles.... first of all, it was very difficult to tear this bags apart from each other at the perforations. I have read somewhere that they have improved this and if so, good for them, and for you if you are buying them.

my next quibble is about the way they seem to break down in a sweaty pocket. I keep these in my pocket until they are needed. That's fine for the most part, but in really hot and sweaty weather they seem to break down and start to feel a bit like a condom. I realize that is perhaps a graphic a description but it is exactly what is called to mind on these occasions. I then never feel entirely secure putting poo in there for fear that it will someone ooze out. That hasn't happened to me yet, mercifully, though I've read some reviews where people have had the poo in hand problem with these bags.

On the positive side, they are very portable. Its easy to keep a roll in the car just to have poop bags at the ready whenever they might be needed. I should say that I have never tried flushing them. The flushability does make them a very tempting bag to consider but I don't trust my toilets to handle them very well.

BOTTOM LINE: I think these are worth trying so you can see if they are right for you. The flushability alone will make them worth it for many people and they are apparently okay for smaller dogs with smaller poo piles. For 30+ pound dogs I think there are better biodegradable solutions out there but not necessarily any that can be flushed.
