Nice for Kitty Travels!

Nice for Kitty Travels!
Was excited to get this for our 2 cats to transport them in and out of motels. Everything was fine at first, simply constructed and easy to expand, except the left side Buckle that holds the side flap up immediately fell off. You can see it in the photos and one of the snaps that hold the end flap open is broke. Other than those 2 things looks good. Will know more once we actually use it. I was going to return it, but frankly I’m tired....tired of paying hard earned money to only receive things that aren’t well made, so I’ll work on repairing it myself and make do. Cats are now sleeping in it when the side compartment is unzipped in the motel room. They fight for who gets in it first, Mr Buddy or lil Face.

It seems very sturdy and should be great. I'll be flying on Allegiant on Monday so I'll know then how it is under the seat. I actually did some alterations so I don't have to bother taking out the floor panel for it to fit under the seat. My dog is small enough that it isn't a problem with it only being the width without that panel. I cut out a strong piece of cardboard and contact papered it to fit within the bottom without the extra width that the floor panel gives it. I then put velcro on the back and put the floor panel there so it would stay when I turned the stroller on it's side. I also used velcro to keep the pad in place on that panel and put another one on the contact papered cardboard panel. We'll see how all that works on Monday! I'll give you an update.

March 30: The flight went good but there were a couple hiccups. This carrier doesn't fit under the window seat of the M80 plane I flew on. Luckily I was able to trade seats. It fits fine under the middle and isle seats. The only problem was the width under the window seat.

The other hiccup was my fault. My poor dog got tossed around a bit while I tried to figure how to maneuver the carrier to actually get it under the seat. I had to turn it on edge to be able to slide it under the seat.

As far as traveling thru the airport, it was a dream! Even tho my dog doesn't weigh that much, the long walks thru some airports can be a challenge. It was such a pleasure this time! And because of the wheel design, it's very easy to maneuver.

Oh, and the few alterations I made worked out perfect. And because there was more padding on two sides and his blanket inside, his experience while I was tossing him about trying to get the carrier under the seat wasn't as bad as it could have been!

I love that you can drop down the sides to cover the screens but also that there are screens for ventilation when needed. The one side that is the pouch to carry stuff in is great. Just don't put bulky stuff in it. That's the side your pet will be laying on under the seat!

    I love this carrier!

Update on airline travel. Normally I have no trouble fitting this carrier under the seat but it does depend on the way the seats are configured. One time it wouldn't fit all the way under because there was a low bar under the seat making it too low for the carrier.

    Update 12/21/2018.

Well, Allegiant has new planes and the area under the middle seat isn't big enough for this carrier. I'm very sad. Heck, when I sit in the seat, my knees hit the seat in front of me! They added more seats making the area for each seat smaller. Not good for people or pets. This isn't a negative review for the carrier. I still love it. I just wanted to let people know that it might not fit on some planes.

This is one of the best carriers you can get if you are traveling with your small pet. I have used this carrier to transport my show dogs (Chihuahuas) many times on flights and it always fits under the seat. It’s also held up for years. I have transported a whole litter to the vet in this many times. It can be buckled into the car seat for safety. I also use it when taking only one dog to shows for the convenience of it. Some of these other reviews from people apparently don’t understand how to use it. The handle is located in a compartment on the side, in case the bag is checked (without animals). It WILL break if you don’t take it off when checking it. It has be attached when using it and detached for storage or for placing it under a small seat of a plane. There is plenty of ventilation if you open all sides as 3/4 of the sides completely roll up for open ventilation, but can be rolled down and zipped for complete privacy. The directions explain how to use it. I have had to completely hose this carrier out due to puppy accidents and it has held up well. It is very discrete for airports or events and my favorite carrier.

I purchased this for trips to the vet for a large cat. The size is as expected and the quality is great, actually the folding feature is better than I expected. The pad inside is not much but I added one that I had with their scent anyway. I set it up with the flap open and one of the cats has gone in and laid down, not the big guy yet but I am hopeful! I only gave 4 stars because I was thinking that I could open both the top and the side door at the same time which would be better for attracting a skiddish cat. The picture with the four dogs lead me to think that the top opening came off or stowed out of the way. It actually lays straight back and can be tucked inside the handle which makes a little "awning" for the other opening. If it opened the other direction or was removable that would provide more options for acclimating a pet. This is now my 4th rolling pet carrier, the others have been too small, zippers proved unreliable, unstable with pet inside, etc. I will update again after the vet visit.

In my opinion, quality and design of carrier is very good. I feel this is especially helpful for someone who needs to limit the amount of lifting that is involved when transporting their pet in a carrier; thereby avoiding the potential strain to one's back! I am able to maneuver the carrier easily with the use of the telescopic handle and the wheels glide across the ground smoothly. Regarding air ventilation, I feel there is sufficient ventilation as long as the 'flaps'/sides of carrier are opened for your pet. Also, I love the separate, roomy zippered storage compartment tucked along the side of the carrier to store our cat's items in. It's so convenient! And, the fact that I can 'fold' this up and store it away when not using it is an added bonus. (My only concern is regarding the 'screens'. Unlike most of the 'metal' screens I've seen with other carriers, to me, the screens of this carrier appear to look and feel like a thick 'rubber' type meshing of some kind. So, even though the screens/meshing appears to be very sturdy, I honestly can't say how well it can withstand a cat's, or small dog's, claws if he/she is determined to make it's way out of this enclosed carrier! This is my only concern being that our cat is not declawed. Hoping this won't be an issue in the future.) Other then this concern, our cat and I am very happy with our new carrier!

It's well built and great for our cat BUT we just flew to Florida on Jetblue........going it went under the seat, coming back could not get it under at all. Will have to come up with something else. So sorry this didn't work . If it fit under the seat, it would have been a 5 star

5.0 out of 5 stars ... bought this for my large (17-19 lb) cat and like most cats

I bought this for my large (17-19 lb) cat and like most cats, he doesn't like pet carriers. To get him used to it, I placed a piece of paper over the fleece pad (what cat doesn't like to lay on papers?) and placed it near the fireplace with the large side door open. He was skeptical for the first month but started using it as a pet bed regularly. When I needed to use it for the first vet trip, he was used to it. It's a good size for large cats and maneovres really well/smoothly. It's defintely a back saver because of the wheels. I don't think it would be suitable for airplane use though as I think it might be a little large to fit under the seat and it doesn't have a hard enough case to load into cargo but it's perfect for car travel.

Very impressed! I had also ordered a Sherpa carrier with handle, and although it was nice as well, I have to say I prefer this one! There is more panel room for the animal to see out of & more standing room as well. The Sherpa would be great for a pet when they're just laying, but while standing, they would have to duck to look out & see anything. The Tutto is also quieter when being rolled & seems a lot easier to pick up, even though they both weigh around the same. The Sherpa is more of a duffel bag carrier (although sturdy & IS nice, as well), and this is more of a suitcase-type.. just that much sturdier. If it cost just a little bit less, I would buy two!! lol
