Customers say

Customers find these dog boots to be the best on the market, with thick leather soles and good insulation that keeps paws warm during winter months. The boots are well-made and perform beautifully, though sizing runs big compared to other dog boots. While some customers say they're easy to put on, others find them challenging to get onto their dogs, and while they stay on well, some report they slip off. The value for money receives mixed feedback, with some considering them worth the investment while others find them expensive.

Saved us during Winter 2015. I cannot recommend more highly!!!

Saved us during Winter 2015. I cannot recommend more highly!!!
I cannot recommend these boots more highly. Let me start by saying that I had bought them before and returned them. I thought that they were difficult to get on and keep on and when my dog tried to walk in them his reaction was so absurd I thought it wasn't even worth trying further. Then this past winter happened. We had an unprecedented amount of snow and it was bitterly cold for almost 2 months. My dog doesn't want to go to the bathroom in his yard and to be honest, he couldn't anyway because of all of the snow. We had to get out onto the road. This quickly became a problem because the cold would burn his paws and after just a block of walking he would stop and pick up his paws for me to rub. I returned to Facebook, desperate for a solution. A friend immediately recommended the Muttlucks. I scoffed and said that I had already tried them and they were ridiculous. He laughed at me and said that I must have bought the wrong size, directing me to the company website for sizing instructions and tips on how to acclimate your dog to wearing the boots. After reading the product information and recommendations in detail (the earlier pair I had bought retail at a pet supply store) I decided to give them another chance. The size needed and color I preferred was not available from the manufacturer, so I came here to Amazon and found a pair. Had I bought them earlier in the season, I could have bought them for half the cost, but I was clearly not the only dog owner looking for a solution for frozen paws in 2015. I worried again if this was going to be an expensive failure. Putting them on for the first time was just hysterical. My dog was reasonably compliant but he had this...what are you doing to me....expression on his face that was just pathetic and very funny. The manufacturer instructions were to get them on all the way and then use the velcro straps to secure them tightly. I learned that really, the tighter the better. I also kept the knit sock portion pulled all the way up his leg, which was very silly looking, but this was all about function over form. When he took his first steps in the kitchen with the Muttluks on, I was pretty skeptical. He was walking like Bambi when he first stands up. But others had told me that the key was to get your dog out and moving with them on. And so we did. The first walk was not easy. He was walking like Bambi and I kept worrying that the boots were going to fall off. They didn't. The walking got better as he realized that he was outside and his paws were not cold. The next day it was a little easier getting the boots on. By the end of 5 days, he was really fine with me putting the boots on. I think the association with boots and walk had already been established. We walked every day for about an hour with the boots on (and a coat) through March. After the snow had melted quite a bit and it was not as bitterly cold, we still used the boots because they were now keeping his paws dry and preventing all of the snow, ice melt and chemical and winter slop from being tracked into the house. I didn't see any other dog wearing boots this winter, but we were stopped regularly by other dog owners asking about how they worked, did my dog like them, etc. When we went to the vets for an annual physical, his vet was so impressed with the product and how my dog wore and walked in them that he took him to two other examining rooms to show other dog owners who had been lamenting the difficulty getting their dogs out in the winter, what they looked like and how they worked. I washed them twice. Once midway through the winter and another time at the end of the season. They had plenty of mileage on them but stood up to laundering well and we are all set for next winter. I am so happy with my purchase and I really recommend them enthusiastically to any dog owner. One bit of advice - buy them before the season starts. You will be able to find the size and color you want and will most likely not have to pay the premium price you will have to pay if the weather increases demand. That said, I think these Muttluks were worth every penny that I paid for them two times over this past season.

100% Worth the investment. Very impressed. Don’t bother with cheaper boots that don’t fit right. If boots are too floppy your dog could trip and injure itself. These boots were easy to put on, fit great and stayed on the whole time during a 2 hour hike. (Check every once in a while to make sure your dog’s paw hasn’t scooted back, then readjust the tightness of the strap if you have to. The velcro holds great, but if it isn’t pulled tight enough at the start then your dogs feet will move around.) The boots were durable and allowed my dog to run around and play without slipping on ice. The fabric goes high enough on a little dog to provide some extra warmth and keep snow coming over the top. It took a few tries to get him used to wearing boots but with some practice he stopped noticing he was wearing them at all. They’re comfortable enough that he didn’t hate them and he didn’t chew to try to take them off, which was a nice surprise. The boots are water resistant and kept his feet warm and dry. He didn't walk through puddles so I can’t speak to how they’d hold up if fully drenched, but they were great in snow. After I took the boots off his feet showed no sign of redness from cold and no scratches or cuts from the ice. Fit true to size. XXS was good for my 10lb maltipoo, but definitely measure before you buy.

These are awesome boots!! Now that he has the right size, my dog loves them! He hates when his feet are wet in the cold and particularly hates walking through slush. With these boots he will walk through anything and is much happier to be out in the cold...The trick is getting the right size. I recommend measuring your dogs feet by having them actually step on or next to a ruler. I could not trace his feet on paper because he squirms too much! And if their front or back paws are bigger, go with that measurement. My dog's back feet are a whole size smaller but the size that goes with his front feet works for all 4 paws. Also, they say the strap should be above their ankle and that's true, but it should also be right at the ankle. If the strap is too far above the ankle, the boots are too big and will slip off. I ordered a size too big and this happened to me. Another sign you have boots that are too big is if you're dog is tripping. This means that their paws are not all the way at the end of the boot. Also, they say the straps should be pretty tight and I worried I was cutting off my dog's circulation, but pulling the strap all the way around the ankle worked well for us! It helps if you pull up on the actual boot (not the sleeve) and hold it there while you tighten the strap to ensure that the law is all the way at the end....Oh and if you have had some trouble with incorrect size, your dog might be pretty dramatic when you put the boots on until he has a 100% positive experience with them. My dog acted like he could not use his legs when I finally got the right size on him. I had to pick him up and put him on his feet so he could see that he could in fact walk just fine in the boots. Now he loves them!!

Our new dog was rescued in Georgia and is very cold-intolerant, so it was important that we get her some paw protection now that she lives where it snows. I had thought that "fleece-lined" would somehow be thicker and fluffier to keep her nice and warm, but it's more of a facing of microfiber than a layer of fleece. Between snow, ice and slush, even a short walk results in wet toes, though I'll grant that her paws are far warmer and drier than without the booties.

Overall I like the quality and design (tall cuffs to help keep her skinny little legs warm, well placed & secure straps, good size based on our measurements), and we'll keep these for less intense conditions but I plan to get one of the other Muttluks designs that may keep more of that cold and wet out to get us through the harsh northern winters.

These dog boots are fantastic! I have a husky and I use it for them when walking on roads that are way too salted. They keep my dog’s paws warm and protected from the snow and ice. The fleece lining is soft and comfortable, and the treated leather soles give good traction. They stay on well during walks, which is better than other boots I’ve tried. My dog took a little time to get used to them, but now he walks just fine. The quality is excellent, and they seem very durable. Would get if you need this for your fellas!

There are many cheap dog boots on the market but in my experience they are cheap for a reason - they are just not substantial enough to cope and quickly fall apart. Muttluks are the best available and although they cost a lot more than many other makes, you save in the long run. A friend bought cheap boots for her dog and has already replaced them 3 times. My Muttluks still look like new!

These Muttluks winter boots are well-made and keep my dog’s paws warm in the snow. The treated leather soles provide great grip, and the fleece lining adds insulation for cold weather. They’re easy to put on, and the adjustable Velcro straps help them stay secure.
Just make sure to measure carefully, as sizing can be tricky. They’re not fully waterproof, so they may absorb some moisture in slushy conditions.
Overall, a great choice for winter walks!
