This is a very good product...just needs a few tweaks to be perfect.

This is a very good product...just needs a few tweaks to be perfect.
I just ordered a third ABO large crate cover. The concept here is excellent. It doesn't have to be sturdy and stand on it's own...it's designed to be something to make a dog crate look more pleasant than a wire cage. The top lays on top of the crate (it is wood slats, attached together by 2 straps underneath which you can't see unless you really try hard), and the legs cover the corner edges of the crate. If the legs were designed to actually hit the floor, it may not fit all crates of the approximate dimensions it was designed for (the description of this product says it is for "36"x23"x25", series 700", but my crates are Midwest 1636DD, but still the same approximate dimensions.) For WHAT IT IS DESIGNED TO BE, it is a fantastic concept. It requires a little wiggling to fit snugly, but it can be done. To hold the legs to the corners of the crate, I used black curling ribbon, tied the legs to the crate in the position that seemed most "square" to me, double and triple knotted the ribbon, cut off the excess, then slid the ribbon around until the knotted spot was no longer visible from the front of the crate. The only real gripes I have about this item is the way it is assembled (the parts assembled before shipping), and the way it is packaged. The first one I ordered wasn't assembled badly, but the 2nd one had a lot of spots where the wood was joined sloppily, and beads of glue (white) leaked out of the seams and dried. Then the way it was packaged needs to be improved. Since the top is joined by nylon straps, it can be rolled up and then placed in the box. This would be fine, except that while in transit, apparently the slats shift around and rub against each other, causing the nice dark wood stain to be worn thru in places, giving the appearance of white unfinished spots on the wood. If this is designed to make a crate look like nice furniture, most people don't want banged up, scratched "nice furniture". If the top of the crate cover was laid on a piece of thin, flexible foam, then a piece of foam was set atop the cover, THEN it was rolled up, it would save a lot of damage and be a more perfect solution to the problem of how bad a wire cage looks in the dining room. Of course, there are $400 and $500 wooden rimmed crates available, but 1) they are too costly for my blood, and 2) I only buy MidWest crates. Most of the wood trimmed crates out there include a crate, from who knows WHAT crate company. One last tip. I fixed the problems of the rub-damaged spots with a wood stain pen. Cheap, from any home improvement type store.

I was trying to find the Heritage series crate cover but they no longer make them so thought I would try this one. It is a hot mess! It doesn't fit right over the kennel causing the legs to stick out. And the color was chipped up already on top and on the legs. I'm going to box it up and return it. :(

I thought this is a bench-like design, unfortunately it is not so it won't stand by itself. The design is meant to put it "on-top" of cage as decoration purpose.

The nuts/bolts that hold it together 'hit' right on a cage bar, so the ends of the table poke up, causing the legs to stick out at about a 45 degree angle!! You can't see it, but the slatted top is nothing more than boards stapled to a couple plastic webbing straps. It's totally foldable/rollable, if it weren't for the legs. We ended up actually drilling each leg and using tiny black tie wraps to secure the legs to the crate - AFTER we had to take out all the bolts and turn them around for optimal clearance. Hence, I now have the bolt ends with the attached nut sticking up on all four corners of the top. Good design thought, but definitely needs tweaking. I bought 2 of them. When all was said and done, and I placed them side by side for my dogs, they actually ended up being a nice looking crate table set. For the money, I'd probably do it again, because I was able to make it work.

This is not a table that goes over a dog kennel. It's pretty flimsy and was a couple of inches too large for my dog's wire crate. I wouldn't recommend buying this.

Should've cost more like $25. Wood is very flimsy, almost like balsa-wood. Mine arrived scratched and cracked and with many marks in many places. It didn't fit over the crate well, and the instructions were very poor. I did decide to keep it, but after being quite a bit on the fence about returning it. I wish I knew exactly what type/color of furniture pen would fill in the scratches. If anyone has a recommendation, lemme know.

Great idea. Kinda pricey for the quality. Had some difficulty getting it to fit my crate but finally got it. Gives my dog crate a better look. My dogs had no problem adjusting to the new look. Be mindful it cannot stand without a crate under it to support it. The bolts/nuts holding it together get in the way with crate. It's what I wanted, looks just like picture and I do love it now that it's together and on.
