Caryl Wolff has been training dogs and their people for over 20 years. She is the only dog trainer/behavior consultant concurrently certified by five dog trainer organizations - The International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants, Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers, National Association of Dog Obedience Instructors, Association of Animal Behavior Professionals, and the American Kennel Club Canine Good Citizen Evaluator.

She has a wicked sense of humor and lives in Los Angeles with two dogs and a 42-year-old macaw, which she humorously refers to as her longest relationship. She has had many animals over the years ranging from frogs to rabbits as well as numerous rescue dogs.

She wrote Puppy Socialization: An Insider's Guide to Dog Behavioral Fitness because socialization is such an important part in a puppy's life and there were many articles on socialization but no comprehensive book.

The Puppy Potty Training book was written because there are many misconceptions and conflicting advice about potty training. Potty training is a primary reason why people relinquish their dogs. She wants dogs to stay in forever homes.

The Teacup books were written because in spring 2011, she had several clients with teacup puppies and dogs. In her 20+years of training, she had worked with small and toy dogs (and even taught small dog classes) and thought that working with teacups would be similar to working with them. She discovered yes, there are similarities, but because of their size and different developmental stages, there are significant differences. She learned from both her clients and other dog professionals and also drew on years of experience to write these books.

    This is a great book! I'm a 'people and their dogs' trainer and I'm recommending it to every client I have. It should be required reading for every potential puppy and dog owner/adopter. It shoots it straight from the hip about what dogs need. Which is not always what owners want or need. And it puts a big chunk of responsibility on the breeder to do what pups need prior to going to their new homes. It defines socialization, socialize, social, and habituation, the first three in particular, that are so miss understood by the dog owning public and also by a lot of trainers. I'd give it 7 or 8 stars if I could!
