works great -- our golden puppy doesn't bark with the collar on -- the progressive correction approach really works well -- ample sensitivity adjustment -- very pleased -- recommend it highly
We have 7 miniature dachshunds and we can't let them continually bark at every conceived breach onto their territory. There's a cat who torments them on top of the fence, the dog that paces up and down the neighbor's yard right next to the fence, birds who have the audacity to drink from our pond, etc. These collars will work on the alpha dogs who are old enough to 'get it, (I've used several other bark collars in the past), but they might need a "dog shrink" when they're done shaking, quaking and peeing on themselves. The "plus" and "minus" adjustments on each collar is useless. There's only one mode and it's 'on' and if the dog doesn't stop 'screaming' from the shock when you try to remove the collar it shocks them again. I definitely would not use on a dog under 10 lbs. The collars beep off when they shake their heads, run into another dog, and metal fences are particularly cruel. The beeps are not consistent with warranted/unwarranted barking so the noise and shocks can be confusing to them. As if that's not bad enough, the batteries must be taken out each night and replaced in the morning which is no small undertaking as they are under the plastic collar band and the little plastic door comes completely off as well as the battery door and so you have small and easily displaced pieces. The battery is difficult to tell which end is positive as the contacts are the same degree of thickness and only one end is visually slightly smaller in circumference. Because these collars are very inexpensive and because we have 7 dogs, we have trained three of them to wear them with the batteries, and the others that are a problem we just put the collar on without the batteries and we have silence mostly. It is less than ideal, but the bolder a dog is the easier it is to train them to this collar. They know it's messed up but adapt because they learn it's not their owner.
Good quality and very effective. The dogs do not bark nearly as much as they used to and the neighbors are very happy. The only downfall is the collar beeps even when the dogs shake themselves off, so they are very careful to not over exert themselves to keep the collar from going off so much giving them the vibration on their neck.
I have two hounds and a beagle, so as you can imagine my backyard can get very loud, especially with lots of other dogs in the neighborhoods setting off my dogs. Purchased 3 of these and put one on each dog. Within a day the adjustment on one became so loose that even though you put it on the lowest setting, it would advance within minutes from the dog moving around to the strongest sensitivity and then would set off when the dog wearing it was sitting quietly and one of the others barked. The second one lasted longer, but came to that same place within a week of intermittent wear. The third has not yet reached the malfunction level of the other two, but is close enough that I can only use it for maybe 10 minutes before it vibrates over to a higher sensitivity than I would like to see. My dogs are pretty acive dogs, so maybe this would work as advertised on a more mellow dog. Since all three units deteriorated I would have to say that its a design issue and not that I just got. bad unit. My solution was not to buy a more expensive and possibly more reliable unit, but to buy a 37"x54" tall portable cage here on amazon and put it in the garage to have the dogs in there when I am gone.
These work, but it took me over an hour to put them together the photos and description all sheo a ready to use product. it came in several pieces and only one very confusing diagram on how to put the box on the collar, i had to try several ways untill i got a usable product. and i'm a very handy person i build, and repair computers. this was a mess
Does NOT work. My lab was within the weight limit of the recommendation for this collar. She has a large, intimidating bark. . hence why we are trying to deter this as she scares our neighbors when she starts barking at them outside (and they are in their own yards!) For this to even pick up her bark, we had to put it at the highest sensitivity setting. Because its at the highest sensitivity, the thing was beeping and shocking her for the slightest movement! The poor dog was cowering in the corner after just a few minutes!! A huge fail. . .we had to send it back. Would not recommend, we will have to look for other ways to curb her incessant barking outside.
We bought this collar for our very high maintenance dog. We couldn't even go to the end of the driveway to check the mail without her going ballistic barking and chewing on things. We got this collar and used a low sensitivity. It worked like a charm! We only had to use it for a few days before she calmed down and stopped barking all the time. My only minor complaint is that our we had to replace the battery after a few days. I think we got a dud battery. Other than that, no problems.
