I bought it for my moms neutered Corgi, who's around 36 pounds. He's a little chubby in winter, due to being neutered, but can get down to 31 or 32 in the summer. This life jacket accommodates him at any size. I like to take him canoeing but, as he's gotten older (he's 8), my mom has started freaking out about him drowning in 2 feet of water. I was surprised at how well this vest worked out. Here's a report after a 3 day float...
First, it's thin. That may sound like a detriment, but it's actually great, because it doesn't restrict his movement when he's out of the boat and running around. He doesn't mind wearing it at all. For the size of dog that this vest will fit, a puffy space suit seems overkill. Flotation is plenty adequate for him, and he's on the larger side of what this vest will fit.
Second, the adjustment is pretty good. The collar has no buckle, but Velcros together, with another thin, sewn-on Velcro strap that wraps around the collar once it's in place, keeping the two sides from being ripped apart. The belly flaps sport a large patch of Velcro running their entire length, with 2 buckles that come from underneath and secure the vest.
There's a little pocket, that I used to hold a laminated card with his info, in case something horrible happened. It has a Velcro closure, too. The top handle wasn't used much, since he rarely bails out of the boat, but it was used, and is sewn on beefily enough to lift a wet 35 pounds out of the water. Just in front of this handle is a D-ring for a leash. It's plastic, which I don't like, but it's there.
In short, it's an incredible life vest for the 10 bucks I paid for it, and definitely more than I was expecting. So, while there are better vests out there, the price-to-functionality ratio of this one makes it an easy 5 stars. Buy with confidence.

Does the job to protect my doggie Ms Mugles
My dog is a 19# Boston and the Med I bought and sized her to by the measurements is just a little big for her around the tummy. All would be fine if the manufacturer would have placed velcro all the way up the tummy fold over so it will hold. I will have to see if I can hand sew more velcro on the flap just to be safe. I know buying online is difficult but I am still and always will be a big user on Amazon.com. I have always loved buying from them, but unfortunately now they charge tax in the state of FL. This trade off would be fine if they would improve on shipping times for standard shipping like they used to do 2-3 years ago.
