Nice backpack for my dog. I ordered a large and it fits my 8/10lb dog just right. Any dog heavier than that may feel a bit squeezed in,depending on the body type. It's made with quality materials. Padded shoulder straps for comfort, to wear facing forward or on your back. It has a lanyard sewn into the inside of the pack so your pet can't jump out. Drawstring cording sewn around the opening so you can cinch the opening to your pets comfort level. Only drawback is no real pockets for water bottle, wallet or cell phone. Other than that It's a great purchase. Love this pack
I saw the Wacky Paws backpack at Unleashed which is very high quality and saw this here for much cheaper. Well, there's a reason for that... It is NOT Wacky Paws but a cheap Chinese knockoff: Ondoing For Pet. The material is not as nice as the one I saw at Unleashed, it smells a little plasticky (though it was wrapped rather tightly in plastic packaging) and my dog's weight is not supported by the base and she pretty much ends up just sitting in a sack. It is not what I was expecting as I thought it was a Wacky Paws product.
My family loves to go camping and hiking. We have a Doberman, a Rottie, and a medium sized basset hound-golden retriever mix which is so much fun. We recently rescued a 6 pound chihuahua, and he gets tired long before the big girls do. I love this pet carrier! It's small and can easily be rolled up and put away or its so comfortable to wear. When he starts getting tired I just pop him in and he love's it. The only downside for me is he does not like being carried on my back. I have to carry him wearing it backwards, which it was not made for. They run a little small it seems, he has of course grown since my purchase but I am definitely going to move him up to the medium size very soon.
Just received this for my 8 pound chion and find that the Small backpack is rated by the manufacturer for a Max Load of 6.62 lbs. For the benefit of other potential buyers, the Large pack is rated up to 11.02 lbs, and the XL rated to 17.64 lbs according to the manufacturer's tag attached to the pack. Note also that the bag is slightly smaller than the dimensions provided by Amazon. The small pack is actually 14.5" L x 5.5" W x 14.75" H per the manufacturer. My dog, although only 8 pounds, has a long torso resulting in her shoulders extending well into the area where only the head should extend. I read all of the previous comments and based on what I read, the small pack appeared to be appropriate for my dog. I give the bag four stars only because of the lack of information in the posting regarding the Max Load. Had that been included in the specifications I would have opted for the next larger pack. I rate the quality of the bag very good and plan to return the small pack and purchase the next larger size.
This bag is awesome! I have a small yorkie and kept going back and forth on size. Well, I desperately needed it before a trip and the large was all the was left. I got it and I absolutely love it! I folded a twin size sheet in the bottom to help keep the shape and allows my Yorkie to cuddle up inside if she wants to lay down. I used this on Spring Break in NC. I took my Yorkie zip lining with me (she's a service dog, so they allowed me to take her) I hooked her service dog halter to the small leash thing inside, tightened the knock part so she could peak her head out, but not fall out since she had to be on my back. She loved it and I ended upside down because I twisted at the very end and had to hand over hand it to the platform so the guide could grab me. She stayed in snug as a bug. Then when we went hiking in the Mountains it was nice to have if she got tired I could just pop her in and be on our way with my hands free to hold my walking stick and balance the uneven mountain trails.
I love the idea of this bag. My dog loves to be outside and with me when I hike but will only walk about 100 feet. Then is done. I bought this bag for her. She loved it and got right in it. The only thing is the second time she got in (the same day it arrived) the zipper broke. When I say broke I mean the pul broke off. So now it is just a flat sipper to try and hold. So torn what to so.
This is a cute back pack, my 8 pound fur baby fits inside but not much room and I got the large size. It could be wider for a little more comfort and I wish the collar strap wasn't elastic. Very comfy straps and nice thick padding for your back. Do wish it had a waist strap for security.
