I have searched many places for this style dog litter box and was just about to give up on Amazon when it finally appeared after viewing many styles for almost an hour (Amazon – please post the pan under “dog litter box”).
I easily trained my 12 year old 11 lb. male Pomeranian when a puppy believing it unreasonable for him to wait 10 hours until I returned from work to let him outside. For the past 8 years he has used a box that measures 24x19x5” but, being a male, often overshot the sides requiring expensive extra-large piddle pads placed under the box. The pads were useless and oh so smelly!
This size litter box is perfect! Because the sides are higher and slanted, my dog cannot overshoot the sides and all urine is contained within the box and absorbed by the litter. I purchase Feline Pine which eliminates odors immediately and 10 lbs. lasts for up to three weeks if soiled pines are removed every 3 or 4 days. (Don’t use clay pellets – not only is it messy and less odor absorbent, the moistened pellets get stuck in the dog’s paws – learned the hard way.) As for fecal elimination, my dog no longer backs up to the pan to dump his load (he’s very smart), he now has enough room to stand in the box to get the job done which I flush daily.
I strongly recommend this box for smaller dogs, especially male dogs. Please note the height is 6”, not 6.5” as stated. The bottom of the box measures 24x15”, the top is 32x23”.
