SAFE, DRY HEAT
Internal heat shield keeps the front from getting hot, allowing your pet to lay directly against the lower half of the unit without any danger of getting burned. Quiet, forced-air fan disperses heat. Please follow installation instructions. Unit is made of 16-gauge powder-coated steel.
EASY THERMOSTAT ACCESS
Thermostat is easy to access and replaceable. Adjusts from 30°F to 100°F. Most people will typically set their thermostat just above medium. Average temperature ranges inside insulated pet house with a door or flap:
- Low to Medium = 32°F to 50°F
- Medium to High = 50°F to 80°F
CHEW PROOF CORD
Hound Heater Deluxe comes equipped with a 6 ft, 3 prong grounded cord. Not only is it heavy duty and chew-proof, it has a protective stainless steel spring that covers the entire cord to relieve strain and eliminate cord tension problems. Uses standard home voltage: 120V 60Hz

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
Install your Hound Heater in 5 easy steps!
- Drill a hole through the wall of the house.
- Feed the cord through the hole.
- Mount the Hound Heater on a vertical wall of your pet house. Do not mount on ceiling or floor. Place heater as high as possible with a minimum of 3 inches from the ceiling.
- Set the thermostat.
- Plug it in! If you are using an extension cord, it must be a 3 wire, 18 gauge (outdoor rated) grounded plug cord.
To disconnect heater, turn controls to off, and turn off power to heater circuit at main disconnect panel and remove plug from outlet.
Please read Hound Heater manual for full installation instructions.

- Reviewed in the United States on January 31, 2017I installed this in an extra large dogloo dog house (second largest dogloo... German Shepherd sized.) It has been running for weeks now and it works great. Some of the poor reviews are from people who used this without installing a dog house door. That's all I'm going to say about that. lol
Installation requires a little thought and a special bracket when using this on igloo shaped houses... locating how high to mount it to leave it fairly plumb on the curved inside surface of the house took some time, but its not rocket science. The hole you must drill to bring the cord out of the back of the house has to be as large as the plug end, leaving a rather large opening for water and air to get in, but I picked up a rubber plug the size of that hole... drilled a hole in the center of that the size of the cord... then split that plug half way to insert the cord. That all plugged into the back of the dog house and came out water and air tight...and it looks very professional. I'll include a photo of that.
The stainless steel spring that protects the cord is helpful, but if using this around puppies that chew, be careful with that. I tied the house to the fence behind it with a bungee, then sliced open a piece of plastic pipe to protect the cord that was still inside the kennel, and wrapped that with electrical tape to hold it on. (Note: No cord is exposed inside the house. That last addition was only for the cord outside.)
I could have easily installed a heat lamp through the top of the dogloo, but my 40 years of having German Shepherds told me not to. I've seen what can happen when one of those lights breaks... making that water proof would be difficult... and a heat lamp that close to the dog would get too hot IMO.
I only wish it were a little less expensive because I'm going to order another one for another dog house.

- Reviewed in the United States on December 22, 2022Have 2 dogs that are inside most of the time, but outside in a dog lot during the days. It has a roof and they have stayed dry in it, but the DogLoo was cold. This makes the inside temp about 60 deg F inside. My little rat terrier LOVES it. Installation was a bit difficult, and even though they are not recommended I had to use screws to mount it. For it's location in the corner the screws are no issue.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 19, 2016Good product, installed easily (once I got the correct screws), heats nicely.
I would have given this product 5 stars but the screws provided with it are 1) insufficient, 2) wrong-sized (like #6 screws provided by the manufacturer compared to the 1/4" screws which I bought to attach the heater to the mounting bracket; th ones provided did not fit and were too small to 'do the job'. Also, since I was buying replacement screws all around, I went ahead and bought stainless steel to replace the zinc-coated ones.
It is a great heater, the best really. (Go Akoma!)
Now if I can only get my dog to SLEEP in there...now THAT would be perfect ;)
- Reviewed in the United States on January 26, 2023I don’t know if all the other people leaving reviews got the same heater I did.
- It’s really small
- It BARELY puts out any heat
- Definitely NOT for outside use (Dog house with closed door or not)
- The heating unit itself gets VERY Hot
- The “Thermostat” consists of Low-Med-High. No temperature control.
Returning it.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 3, 2020The heater works great and dog love it. I will say that when you install this for your dogs/pets, make sure your dog house is sealed or else you will definitely increase your electric bill. It is also helpful to have this hooked up to a switch or wireless remote to make sure it is off when you don't need it.

- Reviewed in the United States on December 23, 2018I just installed so I will update after use. The igloo house brace that came with this was a joke. It evidently was for only the older models. I had to drill new holes and only two existing holes lined up. I am 57 years old and have assembled many an item. The combined instructions for this were useless. We will see how it heats.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 5, 2020We bought two along with the doggie flap doors and our dogs are in WARM HEAVEN 😀 We are very pleased with how the door and heater keeps the warmth in.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good quality
Really impressed with this heater , I set it high and back in the igloo doorway and it works very well, the temperature is variable as well, for -40 weather . It has good power fan and puts out good warm air. Only change I would make , is a remote so a person can change the temperature and actually set the heater into the dome area of the igloo so your not having to take things apart in -40 weather. Thank you
