This is finally allowing our dog's front paw to heal post surgery

This is finally allowing our dog's front paw to heal post surgery
Wish we had found this much sooner! Our dog was in a cone for 7 weeks before and after surgery to remove a growth between the pads on his front paw. While the surgery site healed about a week ago, unfortunately, he's been obsessed with getting at the injured foot and using his cone to 'attack' his own foot - pulling off his bandages and gouging the top and making it bleed. We couldn't let him at it or his licking would cause further problems. We've tried every type of cone, multiple cones at a time, and every type of muzzle (each of which he got out of within seconds). This is the ONLY thing we've found that he will keep on and it should finally allow him to fully heal! TRY THIS if you are at your wit's end with other so-called solutions to keep your dog from getting at his foot! He's tolerating it well, it stays on, and he hasn't chewed it off. Hallelujah!! (Size small fits perfectly on our 30 lb mini Aussie)

I got this because my low to the ground, fat and truly stubborn basset hound, Lily had to have her dew claw removed due to a tumor. The surgical wound was not approximated due to the huge tumor that was removed. The vet sent her home with an empty iv bag cut in two. The idea was to put her stumpy foot into the bag and tie the iv bag around her leg when she went outside to prevent the wound from getting dirty or wet. That didn't last five minutes. She would just walk out of the bag. So I went to Amazon to see what I could fine. I found this jewel. Got it in the mail and on her foot and it was wonderful. She would keep it on and walk just fine. She didn't nibble on it and it kept the wound dry. It dies come with a bag to cover the boot so her foot won't get wet. I didn't bother. Too much trouble. Lilly wasn't going to wade in the water. The bottom of the boot is padded and very protective. The boot has a gel pad inside so the it doesn't sling off when she does the basset gallop. The only thing I suggest is you need to be aware of the size and the measurements. I bought a large because Lilly's foot is canine-humongous, but she really needed a medium. Even though it was a little large, the boot stayed on because of the nature of the boot. The gel kept it from falling off and the Velcro straps holds and cinches the boot to the leg. I would recommend a larger strip of the "eye" part of the Velcro (hook and eye Velcro). I went ahead and sewed a piece on the boot and all is right in my world. Lilly no longer needs the boot, and her tumor turned out to be non-cancerous. I love this boot like I love my Lily. I do recommend this boot. A great tool.

My dog has a chronic toe problem that flares up frequently. I've tried many brands of "wound" boots for my dog, and these are the very best for her. They breathe, are lightly padded, are durable, completely prevent her from licking her toes, and stay on her feet. The top strap is long and winds up her leg--it's a very good design. I have two of them for her and have washed them several times. After 3 months of use, they're worn in and even softer, but still work very well. They've allowed me to not need to put a cone on her. I've also bought the Durable Boots for outdoor walks and the Traction Boots for light snow walking in the yard from this company, and all are wonderful--well-made, durable, and they stay on her feet. That's not been the case with all the other boots I've tried. I have also called the company a few times for advice on which boots to select and someone has answered each time and has been very helpful and courteous. One note: it's important to distract your dog with a toy or fetch when first getting her used to her boots. If you just put them on and stand back, she'll focus on this weird new thing on her foot and dance around uncomfortably. But if you distract her so she walks in them without focusing on them, she gets used to them in no time.

My dog had issues where he cut is paw and was chewing on it - I had used a sock secured w/ a velcro cable tie for a while and got annoyed so thought I would try this [and wound up with 2 but see below].

It did the job and kept him off of it; he adapted to it pretty quickly and it stayed on securely.

That being said I will go back to the sock and velcro cable tie because of a few things:
1.) I did not realize but this thing is meant for a *single* use - meaning one episode of a cut paw, until it heals but not really to save for the next time; now i know why - they don't really want you to use it for multiple legions b/c it might transmit an infection from cut #1 to wound #2 - makes sense - so i just washed it in super hot water etc. till I was satisfied it was clean - held up okay
    BUT
2.) it did not do anything more or less than the sock+velcro cable tie which also kept him off it but perhaps wasn't as stylish and made him look like the doofus he truly is
    AND
3.) the sock+velcro cable tie is machine washable! ding ding and is cheaper!
    SO
I do not really care if my dog looks like a doofus and we took it off [because it is not meant to be used outdoors] for walks, it wound not have made him look any cooler to the neighbors either...

I guess I am glad I have them [this was due to an issue with the vendor and I should have followed my instinct and never gone for a non-Prime item when I totally had the option and was just being impatient b/c it bit me badly - thus I have 2] to change it up but I hope he doesn't bust his paw again.

In the end I wound up putting Musher's Paw wax [amazon] on his paws so that when it healed it wouldn't itch so much [he never broke thru or ripped off the boot or sock] - i think that is why he was tearing it up so much and that made his paws feel great [even to the vet] and it finally heal all the way.

Boot was delivered on the 30th and looked like this by 10am on the 31st of May 🙄. Our pointer/lab rescue stepped on a beer bottle in a field during a run around the lake. This boot looked like it was just what we needed after her getting 18 stitches in her paw pad nearly 2.5 weeks ago.
No cone of shame on since I was home and she hasn’t eaten off any of her other bandages. Seemed great until I found the boot looking like this in the kennel and her out chewing a bone in the living room with her other bandage still on.
I think the durability leaves something to be desired.

I ordered this boot for my dog after surgery. I think the boot would work fine, but it is too large. I do not have a UPS store in my city, and to drop the return off at a UPS pick up location costs $5.99. Just wanted to let buyers know in case you do not have a UPS store in your city. The boot appears to be well made and comes with a waterproof cover when wearing outdoors. It was still worth ordering to check quality and fit even if it does cost me$6 to return it.
