Just for looks
These bandanas are super cute and fit our large dogs well. However, I don’t think they really repel insects. We opened them brand new out of the box to take our Goldens for a walk at a nature trail but had problems with ticks the whole walk. Our dogs are given a monthly preventative and didn’t expect these bandanas to be the Cure all solution. However, we thought it would help repel slightly. Oh well, at least they were on sale when purchased and are super cute on my boys!

I bought 2 of these - one to wear on my wrist and one to put on my dog - thinking that it would repell mosquitos and ticks from bothering us quite as much. But it does next to nothing as far as repelling. It doesn't even seem to repel ticks from the actual fabric.
So I did some more research. Turns out the active ingredient in this product is great for killing ticks and mosquitos on contact, but the insects are not repelled x number of feet away from it. They will still readily land on or near the fabric. Its only once there is physical contact they are repelled. Good idea if you'll be covered head-to-toe in the fabric. Terrible idea if you're expecting a bandana to protect 70lbs of dog - they're perfectly happy to bite his face instead of his neck.
