I HATE bugs, ABSOLUTELY hate bugs that wiggle. Don't mean to sound like a pansy here, but when I picked up a can and then saw what I thought was white mold start to move around... I stood frozen just staring for 10 seconds before I started to yell "ew" over and over until my brain could process what I had to do with this can. When you hit review, do you guys see the review left by Koko on May 13, 2013 about checking the bottom of the cans? Or the 1 star review left by Victoria Dominguezon on April 23, 2014 with, quote, "The food was ROTTEN and had MOLD on it!" Well, everyone should hit helpful on those reviews because that is exactly the problem that I ran into today. Here is my 2015 review and hopefully in 2016 there isn't another similar review posted (for the sake of the consumer and the company). I opened my box and noticed a rancid putrid smell that I have no idea how anyone got past while organizing and boxing up my order. I checked the lids for signs of botulism (raised lids) and all the lids were fine. It was the bottom of these cans that are causing issues and I think Merrick or Amazon needs to either address how they store and ship these products, or create a new durable can with a reinforced bottom because the issue with this product is that the bottom seam splits and wrecks havoc on consumers. I have always been a fan of Merrick, but this review is for this canned product and I would highly advise AGAINST buying this product online. Since others are speeding through the process or not even checking these cans, the best you can do is check them out for yourselves before purchasing (if you even still want to). I think I will be using another product for my puppy's kibble topper for awhile.

When we adopted two small shih-tzu puppies, we went to our local pet store and sampled a variety of puppy and adult canned foods. The biggest difference in puppy diets is that they are higher in fats and calories for high-energy fast growing puppies. Our puppies are not picky at all, so it wasn't like there was one they hated, but what we liked about this food was that had identifiable food chunks in it - duck, carrots, peas, etc, it wasn't too smelly, they have good solid poops with it, and they are growing quickly / happily on it! They've been eating it for three months now with no major issues, so it is our go-to food until they hit 1. We like it so much that I bought some of the adult food for our senior dog, and he is doing great on it - he has sensitive stomach issues, so not all canned or dried food digests well for him, but we've had no issues with this brand for him (Senior Plate, Turduckhen, Thanksgiving plate, etc).

I use puppy plate for my girls. They are adult dogs, but I try to change the flavor all the time with different formulas so their food is not boring. They always seem very excited to eat. I also believe that it helps them being healthier as they get different nutrient from different formulas.

This gave my dogs (all three of them) severe diarrhea prompting a visit to the vet and a carpet cleaner rental. I only mixed a few tablespoons in with their dry food, which they loved. However we all paid the price for the next 5 days. We'll be sticking with just dry food from now on.

My miniature poodles love this and I have purchased it several times. However, both dogs got sick from a can of the last case. The # on the case was 1343519133-17. I thought the "girls" had eaten a lizard or something, but when I took out a new can tonight, I noticed the bottom of the can was discolored and the seam split. On inspection I saw all the cans showed signs of mold & the case had obviously been sitting in water. This is the first problem I've ever had with a Merrick product and Amazon promptly agreed to refund my money. This is probably a fluke, but BEWARE and check the cans before you use it!

My French Bulldog puppy was picky with his food from the moment I got him. I kept him on the same dry kibble his breeder was feeding him with a little added coconut oil and he would never finish his meal. When I started to mix in some Puppy Plate he went crazy for it! It has become his default mixer as I have started introducing other foods like eggs, yogurt, salmon, and various veggies into his diet. As many others have stated, its chock full of real ingredients you can actually see and its grain free! I get peas and carrots in almost every tablespoon. Every breed is different when it comes to feeding and while the product claims "for all puppies", you really should adjust the portions based on daily suggested caloric intake for your breed. I initially made the mistake of giving my puppy a little more than I should have and while he finished it...it gave him loose stool!

All in all a quality product. You get what you pay for. I'm sure my puppy will continue to fancy this stuff throughout his first year of puppyhood and then hopefully graduate to other Merrick wet dog foods.

I’m giving it 4 stars just because the first time my a lil’ bit less than 3mo corgi tried it his stomach didn’t really like it,though he ate with pleasure-real ingredients inside!I gave him half of a 13.2oz can and that was too much for the first time. So i’d recommend to start from 1tsp.

Our pup (now 18 weeks, 6 lbs, chihuahua/schnauzer mix) loves this puppy plate wet food. We also give her Merrick puppy dry food. The local humane society was feeding their dogs science diet wet and dry foods, but we wanted to get her eating more quality foods. After a lot of research, Merrick seems to stand out among the other brands available. Very minimal ingredients that we couldn't pronounce, majority of ingredients being from real veggies and chicken. Our pup switched over without any issues (of course, with gradual introduction of the new vs old), and she just loves it! Wish this product could also have the subscription option, but for now, we just order when she's got about 2 days worth left (which for her, is about 2 cans). It's also slightly cheaper than buying in bulk from our local pet store, and it's delivered to our door! Win-Win!!
