- Reviewed in the United States on February 25, 2016Style: Grain Free Original RecipeFlavor Name: PuppySize: 22 Pound (Pack of 1)Verified PurchaseMy little miniature schnauzer puppy LOVES this food. My family's three dogs went through a multitude of food selections including Iams, Purina, Blue, Hills and Kirkland;,we have now been using Merrick for about two years with all of our dogs. Merrick has done a fantastic job incorporating all of the necessary nutrients for proper, healthy development of all breeds and ages of dogs. Puppy brain and body development over the first year or so is - at least, from what I have read - the most essential time for your dog's diet! I LOVE the fact that they have included raw pieces of food within dried dog foods. This food is fantastic for my extremely active mini schnauzer. He runs around and has plenty of energy to work and use all of the nutrients put into this food. I would suggest that you consider a different type of Merrick puppy food, with a lesser raw crude protein amount if your dog is similar to my shih tzu - he is very calm, and more of that lap dog kind of personality. He would likely gain weight from the nutrient count based solely on his activity level. I strongly suggest this dog food - and any Merrick product, really. My dogs LOVE their wet food mixed into the dry food they receive; but, they also eat up all the dry food without the 'enticing factor' I needed to use with the other brands of dog food.
I have been able to adequately maintain my dogs' weight after switching to Merrick. They also appear to be satiated more than on the other food types. I would definitely recommend this product to anybody looking for a great quality puppy food!
- Reviewed in the United States on November 6, 2015Style: Grain Free Original RecipeFlavor Name: PuppySize: 22 Pound (Pack of 1)Verified PurchaseYou couldn't really ask for a better dog food for you puppy but it really also depend on the dog. Some dogs find this recipe to be too rich. They end up getting bialy burps, over active digestive tract, etc. Unfortunately, that was the case with my GSD puppy. She absolutely loved it but I had to "down grade" to a different food. It wasn't the provider that was the problem and I even verified as much with my vet. This is a great dog food and worth the try. At the least, your dog will enjoy the taste. As a side note, the Merrick wet food is fantastic too. When you open it, you swear it was made for a person...recognizable beef chunks, carrots, peas, and other great ingredients; not a foul smelling mush!
- Reviewed in the United States on March 5, 2017Style: Grain Free Original RecipeFlavor Name: PuppySize: 22 Pound (Pack of 1)Verified PurchaseMy 4-month-old pug/beagle pup loves it, especially the raw hide bits, but I may need to transition him to a different brand when he's fully grown. I think it might be optimal for larger breeds. I give him a little less then the recommended amount and he still looks a bit overweight. My vet told me not to worry about his weight quite yet, but it looks like he could potentially be more than the 15-30 pounds I was told to expect (already 16). That said, his coat is shiny and healthy. Worth noting the first bag I bought had tons of rawhide in the top half of the bag and none on the bottom, so I am much more aware of not overdoing the raw hide at the top half to ensure there's enough left.

- Reviewed in the United States on January 31, 2016Style: Grain Free Original RecipeFlavor Name: PuppySize: 22 Pound (Pack of 1)Verified PurchaseThis is the second time I have bought this exact product for my baby Shih tzu. The first time she loved it so much because every bowl of dogfood had about 4 or 5 of the dehydrated pieces. She looked for them first and loved those morsels of love. She always ate the morsels first and then always ate the entire bowl of food. But…this time it doesn't even seem like the same dog food. I think there was maybe 1/4 of the amount of morsels so I am not sure if I just got a bad batch the second time or if my first bag was just a good batch. I will try it again to see which is the real dog food.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 29, 2016Style: Grain Free Original RecipeFlavor Name: PuppySize: 22 Pound (Pack of 1)Verified PurchaseMerrick is an AMERICAN made high quality dog food with the proper protein to fat ratios for our dogs. Our German Shepherds need at least 30% protein... Merrick is higher. Our dogs thrive on it. If there is a question, Merrick has excellent customer service response time. A few other brands may be better known or "vet recommended", but read the ingredients and you may find Merrick to be a much better choice. The cost is well worth the investment to have healthy happy animals.

5.0 out of 5 stars Dogs will LOVE this
Style: Grain Free Original RecipeFlavor Name: PuppySize: 22 Pound (Pack of 1)Verified PurchaseI have a German Shepherd puppy, I was feeding him Blue Buffalo Grain Free and he didn't seem to enjoy it, barely eating.
As soon as I got this in the mail and fed him he ate his WHOLE bowl. He loves the freeze died pieces that goes along with the kibble.
Mix this with Salmon Oil and his Vitamins and he's one happy, healthy dog.
Thanks!

5.0 out of 5 stars Dogs enjoy it as treats too
Style: Grain Free Original RecipeFlavor Name: PuppySize: 22 Pound (Pack of 1)Verified PurchaseMy dogs enjoy this dog food. There is real freeze dried chicken chunks that they eat first. I don’t like that it is a 22lb bag and you pay so much for it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Dog loves it
Style: Grain Free Original RecipeFlavor Name: PuppySize: 22 Pound (Pack of 1)Verified PurchaseMy dog only eats kibble if it's mixed with wet food. I’ve tried different brands of kibble and none of which he would eat by itself. When I put this infront of him without combining with wet food, surprisingly he started eating it right away.

1.0 out of 5 stars BEWARE!!
Style: Grain Free Original RecipeFlavor Name: PuppySize: 12 LBVerified PurchaseWith the 4lbs bag my 4 month Puppy Beagle loved the food. However be watned when I ordered the 2nd time, I purchased a 12lb bag and my puppy ended up having diarreah and threw up as well. He ended up having an allergic reaction biting his arms constantly. As soon as I switched to a new brand, my puppy stopped having all these problems!
I think this may be a storage packaging issue where it was handled incorrectly!
