My two shelties needed new beds, their two flat foam beds had seen better days, and to be honest, I was tired of how they looked in my living room! With a bit of research, I found these gorgeous beds on Amazon, and rushed to order two of them! I was even more excited when they arrived. They are so pretty!
I quickly put them together (you must put the pillows inside the compartments). I put the beds down and I waited...and waited....and waited. My dogs wouldn't go near them! My Maine Coon cats however, loved laying in them, and they already had a cool kitty bed!
Fast forward to that cool kitty bed, and we decided that since the kittens love the beds, and their kitty tree bed was getting too small for the two, we decided to amend the pretty bed by adding a thick one inch board of MDF into the bottom zippered area. We secured it to our XL kitty tree with the fastener that secured the smaller oval bed. And then we added a fluffy pad that raised up the 'view' for them since the sides are a bit on the higher side.
It worked out PERFECTLY! Our huge Maine Coon kittens have a fantastic spot where they BOTH fit now!
But I looked at that fluffy pad, and wondered if that might help our shelties be more comfortable in the beds too! I took out the pads in their crates and laid them into the pretty doggie beds, and sure enough, it only took mere moments for them to come sniffing around, and ultimately get in and lay down! Our pups were so used to a flat type bed, when they were presented with a bed that had raised sides, they just didn't care for it, until we lessened the height between the bottom and the top of the pillow sides. As they say, change doesn't come easy for some. They certainly ran that line true!
But now for my BIG problem, we only had one bed left since we loaned the one to the kitties! Now it seemed as if the dogs were almost challenging each other, to see which one got to the doggie bed first! Well, we could only take this sad game for about a week when I told my husband that I think that we needed to buy another bed - he agreed. I was SO happy that Amazon still had the exact same beds and colors!
The new bed came the other day, and now we have a house full of comfy pets!
